Several best-selling books have inspired new and returning television series this year as well as box office magnets like It Ends With Us and later in the fall — Wicked. Still novel adaptations more are in the works, like the many romantic comedies of Emily Henry and a few more Colleen Hoover best-sellers.

The year 2024 has covered the range of historical fiction like Apple TV+’s Pachinko or FX’s Shōgun, young adult best-sellers like and John Green’s Turtles All the Way Down, science fiction with Apple TV+’s Dark Matter and Netflix’s The Three Body Problem and many more.

Rivals – Disney+ – Oct. 18

Rivals on Disney+ is based on the second book in Dame Jilly Cooper’s Rutshire Chronicles series. The show, now streaming on Disney+ stars David Tennant, Alex Hassell, Victoria Smurfit, Aidan Turner, Emily Atack, Bella MacLean and more. Set in the 1980s, the series follows a battle for control of a TV franchise in the Cotswolds, between two power-hungry men, Lord Tony Baddingham (Tennant) and Rupert Campbell-Black (Hassell). There are eight episodes.

Say Nothing – Hulu – Nov. 14

The FX adaptation of Patrick Radden Keefe’s Say Nothing will arrive on Hulu on November 14. Starring Lola Petticrew, Hazel Doupe,Anthony Boyle, Josh Finan and Maxine Peake,Say the show tells the story of murder and memory in Northern Ireland during The Troubles.

Silo Season 2 – Apple TV+ – Nov. 15

The show stars Rebecca Ferguson, Common, Harriet Walter, Chinza Uche, Avi Nash, Alexandria Riley, Shane McRae, Remmie Milner, Clare Perkins, Billy Postlethwaite, Rick Gomez, Caitlin Zoz, Tanya Moodie and Iain Glen. with Steve Zahn joining the cast for Season 2.

Interior Chinatown – Hulu – Nov. 19

Interior Chinatown, based on the book by Charles Yu, follows the story of Willis Wu (Jimmy O. Yang), a background character trapped in a police procedural trying to find his way into the larger story—and along the way discovering secrets about the strange world he inhabits and his family’s buried history. The cast also includes Ronny Chieng, Chloe Bennet, Lisa Gilroy, Sullivan Jones, Archie Kao, and Diana Lin.

Coming 2025:

We Were Liars by E. Lockhart

E. Lockhart’s We Were Liars also got the television treatment from Prime Video, and it has wrapped production. The author hinted on Instagram that the show would arrive on the streamer in 2025.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 (The Sea of Monsters)

Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians series Season 2 will be based on the events found in the second book of the original quintet: The Sea of Monsters. Season 2 of the Greek mythology-grounded fictional series will arrive on Disney+ in 2025.

The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 (We’ll Always Have Summer by Jenny Han)

Season 2 of Apple TV+’s The Buccaneers is currently in production, and Leighton Meester has joined the cast. Based on the book by Edith Wharton, which was published with multiple versions that end differently, the show’s first season followed a group of five girls led by Nan (Kristine Frøseth) who venture to England from their American homes during the Gilded Age, exemplifying the culture clash between the two countries.

My Life With the Walter Boys by Ali Novak

After a popular first season on Netflix adapted from Ali Novak’s novel that gained traction on Wattpad, My Life With the Walter Boys will is in the midst of production on a second season, though the first season did tackle all the book material.
